Air India Upgrades Toronto-Delhi Route with New Boeing Aircraft
Air India has introduced its Boeing 787-9 aircraft on the Toronto-Delhi sector, part of its plan to increase its North American market share. The new aircraft features a configuration of 30 business class, 28 premium economy, and 238 economy class seats.
The airline's management aims to upgrade all existing 17 flights on the Delhi route to the new aircraft by the end of the year. Air India has also placed orders for 100 additional Airbus aircraft and 30 Boeing aircraft, with delivery expected in 2024.
As part of its fleet renewal program, Air India is upgrading its narrow-body aircraft with modern cabin configurations, new seats, carpets, curtains, and upholstery. The airline's refit program has already seen the completion of 27 legacy Airbus A320neos, with over 70 additional narrow-body aircraft featuring upgraded interiors.
Air India's officials stated that they want to make their North American operations stronger by catering to the needs of air passengers on various India and Canada corridors. They also mentioned plans to open an office in Toronto and renovate lounges at various destinations in North America.
