Airbus Lands €3 Billion Loan from EU Bank, Triggers Boeing Backlash
A €3 billion loan package for Airbus has sparked controversy and triggered a challenge from Boeing. The European Investment Bank's (EIB) approval of the loan, which will be disbursed in tranches, has raised concerns about aviation industry subsidies.
Boeing approached the US government to demand that it press the European Union to respect transparency laws regarding the loan terms and guarantees.
The EIB agreement with Airbus stipulates that the €3 billion loan will finance research and development through 2030, focusing on manufacturing new commercial aircraft and advancing aerospace technologies.
