Akasa Air Eyes Another Massive Boeing Order Amid Fleet Expansion Plans

Akasa Air is reportedly in talks to purchase over 200 more Boeing 737 MAX jets, which could take its total commitments to over 400 aircraft. This would be on top of its existing order for 226 MAX jets, with 183 still waiting to be delivered.

The Indian airline has been rapidly expanding its fleet, and adding more MAX jets would allow it to continue growing beyond 2032. Akasa Air currently operates 43 MAX jets and has a backlog of deliveries that will last until the beginning of the next decade.

Boeing received its largest order from Akasa Air in January 2024, when the airline purchased 150 MAX 10 and MAX 8-200 jets. The deal was part of Akasa Air's efforts to nearly double its fleet, which has made it India's third-largest carrier.
