Akasa Air Seeks Over 200 Boeing 737 MAX Jets Amid Expansion Plans

Akasa Air, India's third-largest airline, is in talks to order over 200 Boeing 737 MAX jets. The Mumbai-based budget carrier currently operates 43 of these fuel-efficient aircraft and has orders for 226 more. A decision on the new order is expected early next year, with terms likely finalized by the second half of 2027.

Akasa Air's expansion plans come as it targets a 30% capacity increase by March 2027. The airline is also weighing participation in the government's emergency credit guarantee scheme, according to its finance chief.
