Akasa Air Set to Take Delivery of Hundreds of Fuel-Efficient Boeing Jets
Akasa Air is reportedly in talks to order over 200 Boeing 737 MAX jets, as the budget airline expands its fleet beyond 2032. The decision on the order is expected early next year, with terms likely finalized by mid-2027. This move would support Akasa's growth plans, which include a 30% capacity increase by March 2027.
Akasa Air operates 43 Boeing 737 MAX jets and has orders for 226 more aircraft for delivery over the next decade. The airline began operations in 2022 and is weighing participation in the government's emergency credit guarantee scheme, its finance chief said in June. A decision on the order would further cement Akasa's position as a major player in India's aviation industry.
The Boeing 737 MAX jets are fuel-efficient, making them an attractive option for airlines looking to reduce their carbon footprint. As Akasa Air expands its fleet, it is likely to contribute to the growth of India's aviation sector, which has been recovering from the pandemic-induced slump.
