Aker and Microsoft Team Up on Carbon Capture and Removal Projects

Aker Solutions and Microsoft have partnered to accelerate the development of carbon capture and removal projects worldwide. The collaboration will combine Aker's engineering expertise with Microsoft's digital technologies, data, AI, and monitoring capabilities. This partnership aims to support project developers in navigating complexity, strengthening business cases, and reducing execution risk.

Aker Solutions CEO Kjetel Digre stated that success in carbon capture and removal projects depends on strong collaboration across the value chain. He emphasized that joining forces with Microsoft will help project developers navigate challenges, strengthen business cases, and support the next wave of CCS and CDR projects.

As part of the agreement, Aker and Microsoft will provide integrated engineering and execution support for selected CCS and CDR projects. This will enable developers to have a single pathway from early-stage feasibility through to operations.
