US Stock Futures Rise as Tech Stocks Rebound Ahead of Nvidia Earnings
US stock futures rose on Tuesday as technology stocks rebounded ahead of Nvidia's quarterly results and an inflation report. The gains helped ease investor concerns sparked by a recent bond market rout that pushed yields higher and pressured equities.
Nvidia, the AI heavyweight, was up 1.33% in premarket trading, while Meta gained 1.07%. Memory chipmaker Micron added 2.75%, and data-storage companies Western Digital and Sandisk rose 3.17% and 3.94%, respectively.
Investors are bracing for a slew of catalysts this week, including Nvidia's quarterly report and the US personal consumption expenditures data due on Wednesday. The PCE report could provide greater clarity on price pressures in the economy after an in-line consumer inflation reading earlier this month tempered bets on an interest-rate hike by the US Federal Reserve in September.
Brian Levitt, chief global market strategist at Invesco, said he would be careful not to conflate near-term concerns with long-term trends. He added that strong earnings potential and 'AI-enhanced productivity' could be more powerful drivers for markets.
