Alaska Airlines Expands Service at Paine Field with 50% Capacity Increase
Alaska Airlines is expanding its service at Paine Field in Everett, Washington, with plans to increase seat capacity by 50% starting this fall.
The expansion will roll out in phases through summer 2027 and include a new nonstop route to San Jose, California, operated by Horizon Air, which will offer two flights per day between Paine Field and San Jose.
Alaska Airlines also plans to increase service between Paine Field and Los Angeles to twice daily using larger Boeing 737 aircraft. Additionally, the airline will add seats on its existing routes to Portland, San Diego, and San Francisco.
The expansion is aimed at providing more travel options for people in Snohomish County and North Seattle who want to use Paine Field instead of traveling farther south for a flight.
Brett Smith, CEO of Propeller Airports, which operates Paine Field, said the expansion will enable travelers to experience what they've created at the airport. Airport Director Joshua Marcy and Snohomish County Executive Dave Somers praised the airport's partnership with Propeller Airports and Alaska Airlines, calling it a 'large first step' toward reaching the county's goal of increasing gates from three to 12 over the next decade.
No physical construction is required for the expansion, according to airport officials.
