Alaska Airlines Eyes Spring 2027 Debut for Boeing's MAX 10

Alaska Airlines is expecting Boeing's 737 MAX 10 to receive FAA certification by September 2026, paving the way for its introduction on passenger flights in 2027. According to Chief Operating Officer Jason Berry, the airline anticipates receiving its first delivery of the aircraft in spring 2027 and plans to debut it between April and mid-May.

The MAX 10 is a significant addition to Alaska's fleet plans, with the airline ordering 105 units alongside five 787s in January 2026. This deal marked the largest aircraft purchase in the company's history and includes options for an additional 35 MAX 10s with deliveries extending through 2035.

Boeing has also expressed optimism about the certification process, with CEO Kelly Ortberg stating that approval is approaching 'very soon'. The MAX 10's certification has been delayed significantly since its first flight in June 2021, pushing back airline delivery plans by over five years.
