Alphabet Expands Avid Partnership on Google Cloud with Browser-Based Media Composer
Alphabet's (NasdaqGS:GOOGL) partnership with Avid has expanded to include a browser-based version of Media Composer on Google Cloud. This updated platform uses Gemini Enterprise tools and BigQuery AI to support creative workflows, including data-driven media tasks like search, tagging, and content analysis.
The new Avid Media Composer experience is built on top of Google Cloud infrastructure, turning it into more than just storage and compute for studios. Alphabet is effectively selling editors a full stack that runs in the browser, from infrastructure to AI-assisted tools.
This move aligns with Alphabet's existing narrative, emphasizing surging demand for Google Cloud's AI infrastructure and services alongside heavy capital expenditure. However, it also highlights the underlying risk of large infrastructure spend needing to be matched by sustained revenue growth.
