Alphabet Shares Soar on Analyst Upgrades and Regulatory Relief
Alphabet Inc.'s (NASDAQ: GOOGL) shares surged in pre-market trading, gaining 2.4% to $355.59 on Monday.
The boost comes after multiple analyst price target increases and a favorable U.S. federal court ruling that eases regulatory concerns over Google's ad tech business.
Evercore analyst Mark Mahaney lifted his price target on GOOGL to $450 from $420, citing proprietary research that shows Google Search is gaining ground, with 78% of respondents naming it their primary search engine in August 2026.
The trend has been steadily increasing over the last four quarters, recovering from a low of 70% seen in 2024 and early 2025. Mahaney also increased his Search revenue growth forecasts for 2026, 2027, and 2028, with projections for Alphabet's total revenue and operating income in 2028 now sitting 4-5% above the wider Wall Street consensus.
