Alphabet Stock Surges as Google Wins Antitrust Ruling and Unveils New AI Models
Alphabet's stock price has been on the rise after a tough summer, and recent developments have given investors reason to be optimistic. The tech giant announced the launch of Gemini 3.8 Flash, its third Flash model in six weeks, which it claims is the best reasoning and coding model in the lineup so far. Pricing for the new model remained the same as the previous one, a deliberate strategy by Google to position itself as an affordable option.
The Gemini Enterprise platform has also introduced pay-as-you-go pricing, token discounts of up to 20%, spending caps for agents, and a free base subscription tier. This move is aimed at directly competing with Microsoft and Anthropic, which Google claims have more expensive and less flexible pricing models.
A federal judge ruled in favor of Alphabet, dismissing the DOJ's antitrust case that required the company to sell its AdX ad exchange. Instead, the court chose behavioral fixes over breaking up the company. Antitrust attorney Wyatt Fore called this a 'big deal', stating that Google can now enter the AI race without any restrictions.
