Alphabet Stocks Rise as Google Unveils Affordable AI Model Gemini 4 Argon
Alphabet Inc's Class A shares (NASDAQ:GOOGL) climbed by about 2% in premarket trading after Google unveiled its new Gemini 4 Argon AI model. This latest addition to the company's lineup is touted as a more affordable option compared to competitors, with launch pricing set at $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens.
Jeefferies highlighted this price point as significantly cheaper than offerings from Anthropic, citing Gemini 4 Argon's lower costs. The brokerage maintained its 'buy' rating on Alphabet with a target of $445, noting that the stock had dropped 16% from its May 18 peak.
According to Google, Gemini 4 Argon will first be made available to a select group of trusted cybersecurity researchers before access is broadened. Paid API customers and Google AI Ultra subscribers will receive early access, followed by a wider release for developers, enterprises, and consumers.
