Alphabet Unleashes $25 Billion Bond Sale to Fuel AI Ambitions
Alphabet, the parent company of Google, is issuing a massive 10-part benchmark bond sale to raise up to $25 billion. The tech giant is tapping the U.S. corporate debt market with this unprecedented offering, which will fund its aggressive push into artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud services.
The bond sale spans maturities from two to 40 years and features a mix of fixed and floating-rate notes. The transaction's structure is designed to appeal to various types of investors, including short-term money managers and long-duration pension funds.
Bloomberg reported that Alphabet drew about $115 billion in demand for the bond sale, indicating massive investor appetite for this offering. The SEC-registered, senior unsecured debt carries top-tier Aa2/AA+ ratings. Pricing discussions are ongoing, with initial price talks ranging from 60 to 155 basis points over U.S. Treasuries.
