Alphabet Inc., the parent company of Google, has seen its investment in SpaceX grow exponentially over the past decade. In 2015, Alphabet invested $900 million in Elon Musk's rocket firm, and by June this year, that stake had ballooned to a value of around $94.2 billion.

This represents a staggering increase of more than 100 times the original investment, making SpaceX a valuable asset on Alphabet's balance sheet. As of June 30, Alphabet held 551.2 million SpaceX shares, the highest institutional position on record since SpaceX's debut in June.

The value of Alphabet's stake has since declined to around $81.8 billion based on Wednesday's closing price. However, even with this retreat, the stake is still worth almost 90 times Google's original investment.
