Alphabet's Rise Threatens NVIDIA's Dominance in AI Market
Alphabet's growth in its data center business is putting pressure on NVIDIA's revenue. While NVIDIA saw an increase of 105.8% in its revenue, Alphabet's Google Cloud brought in $24.77 billion, driven by enterprise AI infrastructure. Sundar Pichai stated that Alphabet's 'differentiated, full stack approach to AI' is delivering real value.
NVIDIA reported a Data Center segment of $89.02 billion and networking growth of 138%, with customers purchasing complete systems. Jensen Huang said 'compute is revenue.' However, Alphabet is moving towards cheaper, more application-specific chips, which could potentially affect NVIDIA's sales.
NVIDIA generates stronger cash flow but has shares that are priced at 46 times earnings. Alphabet is priced at 15 times earnings and carries heavy spending as the challenger.
