Amazon Aims for Broad Drone Delivery Expansion by End of 2026

Amazon's Prime Air drone delivery service is expanding rapidly. By the end of this year, it expects to deliver packages in nearly 500 cities and towns across the US. This would be a significant increase from its current coverage area, which covers around 175 square miles per location.

The e-commerce giant has already made strides with drone deliveries, boasting that hundreds of thousands of products have been delivered via Prime Air this year alone. Chicago, Syracuse, Cleveland, Atlanta, and Boise are the next cities to be added to its service list, with more communities set to follow later in 2026.

Amazon's expansion plans for Prime Air come as it seeks to strengthen its last-mile delivery network. The company hopes that faster delivery times will help keep Prime subscribers engaged. This move also puts pressure on rival Walmart, which is investing heavily in a combination of drones and traditional delivery methods.
