Amazon and Visa: The Unstoppable Growth Stocks of the Decade
Building wealth in the stock market requires patience and a focus on high-quality businesses that can compound in value over time. Two such companies, Amazon (AMZN) and Visa (V), have delivered superior growth and are well-positioned to continue beating the market.
Over the past decade, Amazon's shares have returned 560%, outperforming the S&P 500 by a wide margin. While its stock has been relatively flat in 2026, analysts expect earnings to grow at a rate of around 20% annually in the years ahead.
The growth driver for Amazon is largely driven by its cloud computing arm, Amazon Web Services (AWS), which reported 37% year-over-year revenue growth in the second quarter. CEO Andy Jassy believes that AWS has significant upside potential and could reach $1 trillion in annual revenue, with a margin of around 39%.
Visa, on the other hand, has seen its shares climb 366% over the last decade, outperforming the market. As one of the dominant payment networks, Visa earns an impressive profit margin of 50%, and is well-positioned to benefit from growth in value-added services such as fraud protection and software running on top of its network.
While there may be some headwinds for both companies, including a sluggish economy and competition in the cloud market, analysts expect Visa's revenue to continue growing at double-digit rates over the long term. With Amazon's market cap leaving plenty of room for upside, investors looking to buy and hold for 10 years should consider adding these two quality stocks to their portfolios.
