Amazon Blocks Meta AI Agent Over Customer Data Concerns

Amazon has blocked Meta Platforms' Muse AI agent from shopping on its retail site, escalating a broader fight over who controls the customer relationship.

Muse is designed to perform online tasks for users, including finding products, scheduling activities and automating purchases. Amazon said it blocked Muse since Sunday as part of a wider restriction on third-party shopping agents.

The company argues that outside agents may access sensitive customer information, fail to properly identify themselves and operate without Amazon's consent.

Amazon spokesperson Lara Hendrickson explained that agentic third-party applications have the same obligations as others, and they've requested Meta remove Amazon from the experience.
