Amazon Blocks Meta's Muse AI Agent Amid Dispute Over Automated Shopping
Amazon has blocked Meta's Muse AI agent from shopping on its platform in a dispute over how third-party agents access online stores.
The move comes as Amazon tightens rules for automated systems, requiring them to identify themselves and stop accessing services when requested. The company says it will not allow any agent that doesn't comply with these new rules.
Elon Musk questioned the enforceability of these restrictions, saying 'Amazon won’t be able to tell whether the buyer is a human or an AI acting on their behalf if access is via the user’s IP address & cookies.'
Meta's Muse AI agent can browse the web, fill forms and make purchases after receiving user approval. The company claims each Muse runs inside a dedicated Secure VM, while passwords and payment methods remain hidden from the agent in protected credential storage.
