Amazon Blocks Meta's Muse AI Agent Over Security Concerns
Amazon has blocked Meta's newly launched Muse personal AI agent from making purchases on its store, citing security concerns. The move comes weeks after Amazon lost a court fight against Perplexity over its rival tool, Comet.
According to Amazon, Meta never informed it that Muse would be accessing the site, and the agent does not identify itself as an AI when it makes transactions. This lack of transparency poses a security risk for customers, Amazon claims.
Muse's launch announcement stated that the assistant has 'no visibility into people's passwords or payment methods.'
Amazon began blocking agentic tools from ChatGPT and Google Gemini in 2025 and runs its own version, Buy for Me. The retailer is still evaluating next steps after losing the appeal.
