Amazon has announced an expansion of its data center project in northwest Louisiana, adding $6 billion to its initial investment of $12 billion. The company's total planned investment in the region now stands at $18 billion.

The expansion includes a third data center campus at Resilient Technology Park in Shreveport, which will support up to 750 direct jobs across all three campuses. Additionally, Louisiana Economic Development estimates that the expanded project will result in an additional 1,784 indirect jobs.

Amazon's decision to expand comes less than six months after its initial $12 billion investment was announced in February. The company is participating in the state's Data Center Sales and Use Tax Exemption program.
