Amazon Boosts Starting Pay to $20, Exceeding CT Minimum Wage
Amazon is increasing its starting hourly pay for full-time workers to $20, effective September 27. This rate applies nationwide and will result in an average hourly wage of nearly $24, translating to approximately $50,000 in annual salary before benefits.
The increase represents a $1-per-hour bump from the previous minimum pay rate. Connecticut's minimum wage is currently at $16.94 per hour but will rise to $17.48 in January due to inflation adjustments under a new state law.
Amazon has over 15,000 employees in Connecticut and offers various benefits, including an annual step plan for pay increases and the 'Career Choice' program providing up to $5,250 in prepaid tuition benefits for classes at local universities.
