Amazon Builds Fourth Robot Factory with $100M Investment
Amazon is expanding its robotics manufacturing capabilities by investing more than $100 million in a new factory in Greenwood, Indiana. The 585,000-square-foot plant will be used to fabricate, weld, and powder-coat parts for Amazon's warehouse robots before assembling them on site. This will be the company's fourth plant dedicated to building robots.
The new facility is expected to create around 300 jobs with average salaries ranging from $80,000 to $100,000 per year. The plant is scheduled to open by 2028 and will double Amazon's number of robot manufacturing sites in the United States.
Amazon has been rapidly expanding its robotics program over the past decade, deploying more than 1 million robots across its facilities worldwide. The company claims that these machines assist employees with 75% of customer orders and have created skilled roles for technicians and engineers who maintain them.
