Amazon Builds New $100M Indiana Facility to Fuel Robotics Expansion
Amazon (AMZN) has announced plans to invest over $100 million in a new manufacturing facility in Greenwood, Indiana. The facility will span 585,000 square feet and is expected to create 300 jobs that pay nearly $100,000 per year on average.
The project marks Amazon's continued expansion in Indiana, where it has invested more than $40 billion since entering the state in 2008. The company currently supports about 40,000 indirect jobs in Indiana and has contributed over $35 billion to the state's GDP.
Amazon will use the facility for advanced manufacturing of equipment for its fulfillment and robotics network throughout North America. The facility will include fabrication and robotic welding capabilities, as well as automated powder coating and assembly systems.
