Amazon Buys into Taiwan's Gold Circuit Electronics
Amazon has secured a direct equity interest in Taiwan-based printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturer Gold Circuit Electronics Inc. through a private placement, marking a strategic investment in the company.
The move, announced on September 30 by Gold Circuit, will see Amazon subscribe to approximately 1.86 million shares at NT$856 (USD 27.14) per share, totaling around NT$1.589 billion (USD 54.45 million).
This investment marks a significant development in the global AI supply chain, with industry sources indicating that Amazon Web Services maintains operational connections with Taiwan-based hardware suppliers.
Gold Circuit also announced parallel capital expenditure plans to scale up its manufacturing infrastructure and support anticipated operational volumes, with an approved outlay of NT$7.9 billion (USD 270.73 million) for land acquisitions and the construction of a new manufacturing plant.
