Amazon Cargo Aircraft Overruns Runway at Miami International Airport, Five Killed
A devastating incident occurred at Miami International Airport in Florida on Sunday afternoon when an Amazon cargo aircraft operated by 21 Air overran the runway while landing, resulting in five fatalities and injuring five others.
The Boeing 767 aircraft, which was attempting to land on Runway 30, a 9,000-foot-long surface, continued beyond the designated area and caught fire after striking multiple vehicles. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Chief Raied 'Ray' Jadallah said that three of the injured individuals were in critical condition and were transported to a trauma center.
The aircraft involved was 32 years old and had traveled from San Juan, Puerto Rico. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported that the flight overran the runway at around 2 pm local time.
Amazon expressed its condolences for the loss of life and stated that it was cooperating with authorities investigating the incident. The National Transportation Safety Board is gathering information about the crash, while the FAA will conduct an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the runway overrun.
