Amazon Cargo Jet Crashes at Miami Airport, Kills Five
National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) investigators have released preliminary findings on the September crash of an Amazon Prime Air cargo jet at Miami International Airport's Runway 30. The aircraft, a Boeing 767-33A operated by contractor 21 Air, touched down about 3,750 feet beyond the displaced threshold at the approach end of the runway.
The runway measures 9,360 feet, leaving little room for the plane to stop after landing. This overran runway incident resulted in the deaths of five people.
The NTSB's investigation is ongoing, but this initial finding provides insight into the events surrounding the crash.
