Amazon Cargo Jet Crashes at Miami International Airport, Killing Five

A devastating cargo plane crash at Miami International Airport has left five people dead and multiple others injured. The incident occurred on Sunday when an Amazon Prime Air cargo jet, operated by 21 Air, overran the runway while landing. The aircraft, a 32-year-old Boeing 767, was returning to Miami from San Juan, Puerto Rico.

National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) Chairwoman Jennifer Homendy described the scene as 'utter devastation.' The plane traveled about 1,300 feet past the paved surface before crashing into a van carrying seven people from a cleaning company. Three people were critically injured, and two others were hospitalized with less severe injuries.

Homendy noted that the plane had tire marks on the pavement leading to the grass, destroyed fencing, and navigational equipment damage. The debris included vehicle airbags, equipment from vehicles, planes, and airport infrastructure.
