Boeing Slips Behind Airbus as Delivery Numbers Tumble

Boeing's delivery of commercial airplanes hit a four-month low in August, with the company handing over just 51 planes. This marks a decline from the same month last year, when Boeing delivered six more aircraft than it did this time around. The production rate of the 787 Dreamliner was particularly affected, with only four units delivered in August.

Boeing's total deliveries for August consisted mainly of 42 737 models, as well as several 777 and 767 airplanes used for cargo transport and refueling tasks. In contrast to August, the previous two months saw more substantial deliveries of the 787, with at least 10 units handed over each time.

The slowdown in Boeing's deliveries is not unique to the company, however, as its competitor Airbus also experienced a similar dip in August. Airbus delivered four fewer planes than it did last year, but still managed to surpass Boeing's total by six aircraft. The accumulated total for both companies reflects this trend, with Boeing ahead of Airbus only due to an initial lead in deliveries.
