Amazon Cargo Jet Crashes into Van at Miami Airport, Killing Five

An Amazon cargo plane overshot the runway at Miami International Airport on Sunday, killing five people in a cleaning crew van. The Boeing 767 jet was landing after a two-hour flight from Puerto Rico as storms brewed around the airport.

National Transportation Safety Board Chairwoman Jennifer Homendy called the scene 'utter devastation' due to the extensive damage and debris scattered along the plane's route.

The plane, which spent a long time over the runway before touching down, barreled roughly 1,300 feet past the end of the runway. The NTSB said strong tail winds likely propelled the plane far down the runway, preventing it from landing safely.
