An Amazon Air cargo plane crashed at Miami International Airport on Sunday, September 6, 2026, after overrunning the runway during landing. The incident resulted in five fatalities and five injuries, with three of the injured still hospitalized. The victims were identified as Rolando Aleman Leon, Yoel Rodriguez Narajo, Julio C. Pineda, Carlos Acosta Fajardo, and Javierkys Reyes Quevedo. The plane, operated by 21 Air LLC, collided with a van carrying seven people and an SUV outside the airport perimeter.

NTSB Chairwoman Jennifer Homendy described the scene as "utter devastation," noting debris scattered across the area and significant damage to the van. The aircraft, a Boeing 767-33 Alpha, traveled about 1,300 feet past the runway before stopping. The flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder were recovered for evaluation. The NTSB team is investigating factors such as crew training, company procedures, and weather conditions.

Both the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Amazon confirmed the incident, expressing condolences to the victims' families. Amazon and 21 Air LLC pledged full cooperation with the investigation. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue reported that around 200 personnel responded to the crash, conducting search and rescue operations and extinguishing flames. The airport's ground stop was lifted around three hours after the incident, with two runways reopened.
