Amazon Cargo Plane Crash: Excessive Speed Cited as Contributing Factor

A preliminary update from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has shed new light on the Amazon cargo plane crash at Miami International Airport that killed five people.

The Boeing 767, operated by Amazon Air, was cleared for landing about two minutes before impact, but one of the pilots radioed in, saying the aircraft was going 'too fast.'

The pilot made additional comments regarding the excessive speed, and automated warnings from the ground proximity warning system were heard in the cockpit.

The plane's flight data and cockpit voice recorders indicate that it was descending rapidly, with a sink rate warning sounding twice and a 'too low terrain' warning five times.
