Amazon Cargo Plane Crash Leaves Five Dead in Miami
A Boeing 767-300 cargo plane operated by Amazon's Prime Air crashed at Miami International Airport, leaving five people dead.
The pilots of the aircraft, identified as Joseph Carroll and Jaime Felipe Silva Molina, had extensive flying experience: Carroll had over 7,000 hours of flight time and was certified to fly 767s since May, while Molina had more than 2,500 hours and was certified on 767s in April 2025.
Witness Abraham Altamar described the scene as 'surreal' after seeing the plane plow through navigation gear, a van, an SUV, and two fences. The pilots were hesitant to land, according to information from the plane's black boxes.
The pilot who survived the crash was reportedly shaken with injuries to his head and hand and borrowed Altamar's phone to call his wife. On the call, he said 'Just tell my mom that I was in the accident, but I'm already out of the plane, that I'm good.' He then added, 'My career is over.'
