Amazon Cargo Plane Crashes at Miami International Airport

An Amazon cargo plane crashed at Miami International Airport on September 6, killing at least five people and injuring several others. The aircraft, a Boeing 767 operated by 21 Air, veered off the runway after arriving from San Juan, Puerto Rico.

According to authorities, three people were critically injured and two others suffered less severe injuries. Miami-Dade County officials said it was too soon to determine whether the deceased were on board the plane or in vehicles struck by the aircraft.

The crash sent thick black smoke billowing into the sky, trapping occupants in cars and a semi-truck. Fire crews responded quickly, but a fuel leak on the plane continued to pose a hazard several hours after the incident.

Amazon issued a statement expressing its condolences for the loss of life and saying it would cooperate with any investigation. The National Transportation Safety Board is sending a team to Miami to investigate the crash.
