Amazon Cargo Plane Crashes at Miami International Airport, Five Killed

An Amazon cargo plane, operating as Prime Air Flight 7598, overshot the runway at Miami International Airport on September 7, 2026. The Boeing 767 aircraft had arrived from Puerto Rico and crashed into vehicles, catching fire in the process. At least five people were killed in the incident, with three more transported to trauma centers in critical condition and two others treated at a local hospital.

Miami-Dade County Fire Chief Ray Jadallah said that the plane struck several vehicles, leaving some occupants trapped inside. A complex extrication was necessary to free those trapped, including the pilot and co-pilot who were stuck in the aircraft.

Fire officials used foam to extinguish a fire in the engine compartment, while hazardous materials units worked to shut down the aircraft's engine and control a fuel leak. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will investigate the cause of the incident.
