Amazon Cargo Plane Crashes at Miami International Airport
An Amazon Air cargo plane crashed at Miami International Airport on Sunday evening, killing five people and injuring five others. The Boeing 767-300 aircraft was attempting to land when it overshot the runway and collided with several vehicles on the ground.
The incident occurred around 14:00 local time (19:00 GMT), just before the Labor Day weekend, one of the busiest travel periods of the year.
Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava confirmed the fatalities and said that rescue crews arrived at the scene within seconds of the crash. Three people are in critical condition, according to Miami Fire Chief Raied Jadallah.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will investigate the cause of the crash, which is expected to be a complex and lengthy process.
