Amazon Cargo Plane Crashes at Miami International Airport, Killing Five

An Amazon cargo plane crashed at Miami International Airport on Sunday, killing at least five people and injuring five others. The aircraft overran the runway after arriving from San Juan, Puerto Rico, around 2 p.m.

The Prime Air plane struck vehicles and was engulfed in flames, sending thick black smoke into the sky. Five people were killed, three critically injured, and two hospitalized with less severe injuries, according to Miami-Dade County officials.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the cause of the crash, which has halted flights at the busy airport for much of the afternoon. Amazon said it would cooperate with any investigation, offering condolences to the families affected by the devastating loss.
