DLSS 5 Mods Reach RTX 20-40 with Mixed Performance
A wave of unofficial mods has allowed owners of Nvidia's RTX 20, 30, and 40 series graphics cards to run DLSS 5 neural rendering, a feature previously reserved for the Blackwell lineup.
The tools, built around the free post-processing framework ReShade and a community add-on called RenoDX, spread quickly after a leaked file from an early build of NBA 2K27 in late August 2026.
The modders used this file to bypass Nvidia's hardware check, allowing DLSS 5 to run on older GPUs. However, the performance is not as impressive as expected, with significant frame-rate drops reported across various GPU generations.
