Amazon Delivery Drivers Amass Thousands of Traffic Tickets in NYC
A new interactive tool from the labor-aligned Alliance for a Greater New York reveals that Amazon delivery drivers in New York City have accumulated thousands of serious traffic violations over the past five years.
The 'Amazon Delivers Dangers' map shows that between July 2021 and June 2025, Amazon-associated delivery vans drew 14,290 tickets from cameras and traffic enforcement agents. The map categorizes these citations into various types, including blocking bus lanes, obstructing curb access, speeding in school zones, and more.
The data indicates that Amazon's drivers have received tickets in every last one of the city's 51 City Council districts. The ten plates with the most combined citations accounted for only 904 of the total.
Council Member Tiffany Caban (D-Queens) has proposed the Delivery Protection Act, which would require the operators of 'last-mile' warehouses to directly hire anyone doing deliveries out of that warehouse. This would effectively require Amazon to directly hire its delivery drivers.
