Amazon Delivery Trucks Cited Over 14k Times in NYC for Traffic Violations
Amazon's delivery trucks in New York City have accumulated over 14,000 tickets between 2021 and 2025 for parking, red-light, and speed-camera violations. According to an analysis by the labor coalition Alliance for a Greater New York (ALIGN), these vehicles were written up 3,602 times for blocking bus lanes and other public transit access citywide during this period.
Over four city fiscal years, Amazon delivery vehicles received 2,162 tickets via automated camera for speeding in school zones. They were also cited 854 times for blocking bike lanes, 338 times for crosswalks, and five times for sidewalk cuts. Additionally, the city's automated red-light cameras assessed fines to Amazon-linked vehicles 728 times.
Of a fleet of 1,553 Amazon-affiliated vehicles identified from the city's illegal-idling database, 637 came back with traffic and parking tickets. ALIGN campaign director Daisy Chung stated that Amazon's focus on fast delivery speeds is 'coming at a cost' to workers and New Yorkers.
