Amazon Deploys AI-Powered Scam Detector via Alexa

Amazon has introduced an AI-powered feature through its virtual assistant Alexa to help customers verify the authenticity of messages claiming to be from Amazon. The tool, which checks sender details, message content, and metadata against billions of Amazon communications, aims to reduce the annual number of customer inquiries about suspicious messages.

The company is addressing a growing concern as consumers report an increasing number of scam cases. According to Amazon's strategy, this new feature aligns with its broader effort to enhance Alexa's shopping assistance capabilities.

This development comes amidst other market news, including Amazon's plans to cut 150 jobs in Northern California and its opposition to New York City's Delivery Protection Act, which could increase delivery costs by $664 annually per household and threaten over 5,000 jobs.
