Amazon Ditches Cargo Carrier After Prime Plane Crash Kills Five
Amazon has suspended operations with 21 Air, the cargo airline involved in the Prime cargo plane crash in Miami earlier this month.
The Boeing 767 had Amazon's logo on the side when it overshot the runway and struck two vehicles, killing five people on the ground.
A spokesperson for Amazon said that after the incident, they spent time supporting the investigation and reviewing surrounding circumstances, leading to a decision to pause operations with 21 Air.
The National Transportation Safety Board released details from the airplane's black boxes, revealing that one pilot warned of approaching too fast but received inconsistent verbal response. The cockpit voice recorder showed a go-around attempt was called for, but the throttles were then reduced and brakes reapplied.
