Amazon Doubles Down on Robotics with $100M Indiana Facility

Amazon is investing more than $100 million in a new robotics-manufacturing facility in Greenwood, Indiana, set to open by 2028. This is the company's fourth robot-making plant, doubling the number of Amazon's robot-manufacturing plants after another hub was announced in Austin, Texas last month.

The facility will expand Amazon's robotics operations since acquiring Kiva Systems for $775 million in 2012. Over a decade, the company has deployed over a million robots to sort, lift, and move packages inside its warehouses.

According to Holly Sullivan, vice president of worldwide economic development at Amazon, the robotics investments have created high-paying, skilled jobs and reduced the rate of recordable workplace injuries by more than 40%.
