Amazon Drone Drops Package in Customer's Pool Amid Expansion Plans
A Texas woman recently experienced the mixed blessing of Amazon's drone delivery service when her package was dropped directly into her swimming pool. The incident occurred after she had heard the sound of the drone approaching and ran outside to record the delivery.
The video captured the moment when the drone, identified as an MK-30 model weighing around 80 lbs, descended from the sky and released the package straight into the pool. According to the woman's reaction, 'Oh my god, oh my god' turned into 'oh s***!' after splashdown.
This is not the first time Amazon's drones have had issues with precision landing. In May, a similar incident was caught on camera when a drone dropped a package onto the edge of a pond before it tumbled into the water. Another video from last year showed a package being delivered to a customer's pool, only for it to roll in.
Amazon announced this week that its drone delivery service will expand to 500 more cities across the US, up from the current 11 locations. However, the company's spokesperson downplayed the recent incident, stating that 'incidents are extremely rare' and that Amazon learns from them to improve the experience.
