Amazon Drones Delivering to 500 Cities by End of Year
Amazon is expanding its drone delivery service to nearly 500 cities and towns by the end of the year. The online retail giant currently offers the service in fewer than 100 locations, but plans to increase that number significantly.
The service allows for fast and convenient delivery of items weighing five pounds or less, which can fit inside a large shoebox. According to Amazon, more than 60% of customer orders fall into this category.
Prime members will be able to access the service for free on orders of $50 or more, while non-Prime customers will pay $4.99. Orders under $50 will cost $2.99 for delivery. The company claims that orders can arrive in as fast as 30 minutes, with most deliveries taking around an hour.
Amazon's expansion of its drone delivery service is part of the company's ongoing efforts to improve customer experience and increase efficiency. By leveraging technology and innovation, Amazon aims to stay ahead of the competition and continue growing its market share.
