Amazon Drops $6 Billion Bombshell on Shreveport Data Center Expansion
Amazon has announced a major expansion of its data center operations in Shreveport, Louisiana. The tech giant will invest $6 billion in a new facility at Resilient Technology Park, bringing the total investment in Northwest Louisiana to $18 billion. This is part of Amazon's plans to build three state-of-the-art campuses in Caddo and Bossier Parishes.
The expansion is expected to create 210 direct new jobs in Shreveport, with the three planned campuses creating over 700 new job opportunities in the northwest region. Governor Jeff Landry hailed the decision as a vote of confidence in Louisiana's business environment.
Amazon will also invest up to $400 million in public water infrastructure to support its data centers. The company is working closely with local utilities to ensure that there is enough capacity for the facilities and existing customers.
