Amazon Drops Delivery Partner, 120 Employees Laid Off in Washington State
A package delivery service in Washington State has closed its operations and laid off 120 employees after Amazon dropped them as a delivery partner. The company, 2EZY, received one business day's notice from Amazon before the contract was terminated.
The unexpected move left 2EZY with no choice but to file for closure under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act. According to the filing, all affected employees will be separated from the company on September 30.
The specific number of affected employees per job title includes 109 drivers, five dispatch workers, four helpers, one administrative assistant, and one manager. The closure is expected to be permanent.
