Amazon Dumps Another $1.9 Billion into Delivery Service Partner Program
Amazon is expanding its investment in its Delivery Service Partner program by another $1.9 billion, bringing the total to over $23.6 billion since the program's inception eight years ago. This significant investment aims to support delivery service partner owners in increasing driver pay to a national average of nearly $24 per hour, representing an average 16% pay increase over the past three years for delivery associates nationwide.
The company attributed the decline in serious vehicle crashes across its delivery network by more than 23% last year to safety investments totaling over $543 million since 2022 and leadership from delivery service partner owners. To further enhance safety, Amazon is deploying surround-view cameras in Rivian electric delivery vehicles, with installation expected in 50% of the fleet by year-end.
In addition to investing in driver pay and safety measures, Amazon has committed $70 million over five years for community impact initiatives led by delivery service partner owners. The program consists of independent delivery businesses that contract with Amazon, highlighting its commitment to supporting small businesses and local communities.
