Amazon Enters Satellite Internet Market, Raises Concerns for SpaceX Investors

Amazon's entry into the satellite internet market through its Amazon Leo project has raised eyebrows among investors, particularly those of SpaceX. The e-commerce giant has contracted launch services from Arianespace and has already launched 100 satellites, with plans to add another 400 to its constellation this year.

SpaceX, which currently dominates the satellite internet market, has an estimated $1.6 trillion addressable market in this industry. However, Amazon's ability to operate at a loss for a long time while generating significant cash flow from other business segments could pose a challenge to SpaceX.

Despite this, SpaceX's vertically integrated strategy and innovative reusable rockets have given it a significant lead over its competitors, including Amazon. The company's next-gen rocket, Starship, is being developed to be fully reusable with a much bigger payload capacity than its current Falcon 9.
